Chandrakumari Lahare

Chandrakumari is from Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Her work focusses on dalit and tribal rights with special focus on women. She regularly organises meetings and awareness programs with the community on domestic violence, health and sanitation concerns of women and children, livelihood challenges of women, superstitions, forest rights act and rights of women and other vulnerable group. In the past she received support from Public Health Resource Network where she was involved in organising health and nutrition camps in the backward villages to help women tackle the challenges of micro-nutrient deficiency, anaemia, nutrition of pregnant and lactating mothers. She has also trained the ASHA and ANM workers about the health challenges of women and how to help women cope. She was also involved with the Dalit Foundation to work on SC/ST atrocities and ensure that the rights and entitlements of the tribal and dalit community. She strongly advocates on untouchability, equality of opportunity, freedom of speech and justice to the marginalised communities.
